On the morning of October 30, 2019, to enhance the building of its scientific research institutions, strengthen exchanges between institutions, improve its consulting services for local government and business, accelerate the translation of its scientific researches into productivity and build it into an influential new type of think-tank, the School of Management held an exchange meeting on institutions of philosophy and social sciences and academic journal management at B214 Room of the Yifu Building. Party and government leaders of the School, heads of institutions of philosophy and social sciences, heads of academic journals and the director of the Academic Committee attended the meeting. The meeting was hosted by Professor Li Beiwei, Dean of the School of Management.
First of all, the heads of “one entity research institution and six non-entity research institutions” of philosophy and social sciences and the head of Intelligence Science journal briefed development status, achievements, problems and future development directions of their institutions respectively and talked about assistance and support needed from the School. The participants had a heated discussion and proposed constructive development plans and outlook based on existing advantages and disadvantages of the institutions; they also explored further on interdisciplinary development among the institutions, which would be conducive to major project application and consultation achievements.
During the meeting, Vice Dean Fan Xuemei said that each research institution should combine advantages of each institution on the basis of the platform of Jilin University to lay a solid foundation for building a new type of think-thank to support the social and economic development of Jilin Province and the country. She also analyzed the operations of Chinese and English periodicals of the School and said that we should continue to promote the first English periodical Journal of Industrial Integration and Management: Innovation Management and Entrepreneurship, jointly established by the School and the World Scientific Publishing Company of Singapore, to be retrieved by SSCI, at the same time, pay close attention to the establishment and publication of the second English periodical International Journal of Business Management & Technology (IJBMT). We should also advance the publication of the English version of Intelligence Science so as to enhance our academic influence internationally.
Professor Li Beiwei gave pertinent suggestions regarding the transformation of research institutions from academic research-orientation to market problem-orientation. He pointed out that in the face of the new environment, research institutions should keep up with the time by combining advanced technologies such as the Internet, digitalization and block-chain with actual problems of the government and enterprises; only in this way can they establish their advantages, create a featured platform and strive to become a leader in the digital transformation and industrial innovation researches in Jilin Province.
Secretary Zhang Xinglin made a concluding remark for the meeting; he emphasized that the School and the party committee should attach great importance to the research institutions and journal development; he also required that a long-term management mechanism should be in place and related resources should be provided. Secretary Zhang expressed his great hopes on future development of the research institutions and journals.
