Founded in 1946, JLU is a comprehensive and national key university under the direct jurisdiction of the Ministry of Education. In 1960, the university was designated as one of the national key universities in China; in 1984, it became one of the first 22 universities with graduate schools; in 1995, it was approved by State Education Commission as one of the first batch of “Project 211” universities; in 2001, it was designated as a “Project 985” university for key construction; in 2004, it was designated as a university directly managed by the central government.
Approved by Ministry of Education and Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council, JLU School of Management secured the authorization for MBA program in 1997. For over 20 years, the school has trained over 3000 MBA graduates, supported by the talent cultivation system featuring high-level faculty members, high-end curricular structure, highly open educational mode, and cultivation of high-level talents, upholding the development philosophy of being human-based, harmonious, truth-seeking, and innovation-led, and availing itself of the unique advantage with solid foundation, plain academic atmosphere, and integrity and practicality. Supported by the platform of a top-notch comprehensive university and with experiences in over 70 years of disciplinary development and 20 years MBA program, the School of Management has laid solid foundation for cultivating senior managerial talents for the society.
一、Goals and Basic Requirements of the Training Program
(一)Goals
Faced with economic globalization and digitalization, the School of Management has taken the pragmatic, innovative, and internationalized perspectives in designing and developing courses, adopted an interactive pedagogy combining theoretic instruction, case analysis, and themed discussions, and co-established outreach bases for management along with big enterprises to temper practical abilities of students. We aim to cultivate high-quality managerial talents with correct political direction, solid theoretical fundamentals as well as practical abilities, international perspectives as well as sufficient knowledge of China’s realities, ability to explore and innovate as well as social responsibilities.
(二)Basic Requirements
1. Students should have academic and commercial ethics; corporate civic awareness, social responsibility and awareness for sustainable development; humanistic and scientific spirit.
2. Students should have strategic thinking and analytical abilities for the big picture and with a global perspective; science-based decision-making abilities for complex issues; team spirit and communication skills; abilities to innovate, organize and lead.
3. Students should master basic theoretical knowledge of modern economics and management, as well as basic analytical methods and tools needed for corporate management.
4. Students should master knowledge associated with corporate functional management, such as accounting, finance, marketing, operation, human resources, information management etc.; as well as knowledge associated with corporate general management, such as leadership, decision-making, business start-up, corporate governance, strategies, commercial ethics and corporate social responsibilities etc.
5. Students should have proficiency in one foreign language.
二、 Prospective Students
People who have over 3 years of working experience after undergraduate graduation; or those who have over 5 years of working experience after graduation from higher vocational and specialized education, with equivalent educational level to university undergraduates; or those who have over 2 years of working experience after being awarded with master degrees or doctoral degrees.
三、Modes of Study and Period of Schooling
On-the-job training in multiple modes and with flexible timetable
Period of schooling: normally 2 years and at most 4 years.
四、 Training Approach
1. With case methods and increasing share of cases in teaching, we highlight the combination of theory with practicality and emphasize the cultivation of students’ abilities in analyzing and address actual issues. Second Classroom project has been launched, where experts, entrepreneurs, and government officials who have rich practical experiences are invited to give lectures or to teach some courses.
2. Students’ performances are assessed in a comprehensive way, including exams, homework, case analysis, class discussion, themed reports, and contests etc.
3. Credit system is adopted. The total credits should be no less than 45.
4. A group or a pair of supervisors will be arranged for each student to work collectively. Professionals in enterprises and the government will also take part in thesis mentoring.
5. The role of outreach will be enhanced.
6. Political and ideological quality and professional ethics will be emphasized in the cultivation program.
五、Curriculum
The credit system is adopted. Students should earn no less than 45 to graduate, including 10 for core courses, 22 for compulsory courses, 7.5 for optional courses: and 5 for outreach.
