The School of Business and Management at Jilin University was established in December 2021, and international accreditation was an important task for the integrated development of the new school. The school designated the MBA Education Center as the accreditation body and officially launched AMBA & BGA international accreditation in May 2022, advancing innovative development of MBA education in accordance with international standards, implementing a strategic discipline enhancement plan, and relying on the Changchun Base of the Belt and Road Entrepreneurship Education Alliance to lead innovation and entrepreneurship education in an internationalized business school. In 2022 and 2023, the school received the AMBA & BGA accreditation Bronze Award and direct eligibility for the Gold and Silver Awards, respectively.

In late May 2024, an on-site visit for AMBA & BGA Gold accreditation was conducted. A five-member expert panel led by Professor Martyn Jones, Vice-Chancellor of Kingston University London in the United Kingdom, and comprising Tang Ningyu, Wang Chongming, George Iliev and Richard Turner, carried out the review. On May 23, Zhang Xi, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and President of Jilin University, met with the expert panel and stated that the university attaches great importance to international exchange and cooperation and supports the school’s international accreditation work. The expert panel visited teaching venues such as MBA classrooms and laboratories, reviewed materials from the past five years for the MBA program and the sample undergraduate program in Logistics Management, and held discussions with course instructors and employer representatives. On May 24, Cai Lidong, Executive Vice President of Jilin University and Dean of the School of Business and Management, led the school’s Party and administrative leadership team in a discussion with the expert panel. Zhao Jun, Party Secretary, and others introduced the school’s development history, vision and mission, and the characteristics and achievements of its MBA education. Based on the self-assessment report, the expert panel held in-depth exchanges on development strategy, reform measures, talent cultivation, academic research and internationalization, and held discussions with the project management team, faculty, current students and alumni representatives. In their feedback, the expert panel highly praised the school’s MBA education for reaching the international frontier in areas such as curriculum design, talent policy, CIM system development, alumni development, leadership and innovation, and offered suggestions on industry-academia-research co-building, interdisciplinary development, incentive mechanisms, diversified EDP development, and benchmarking against international strategies.
On August 24, 2024, the school passed AMBA & BGA international accreditation for a three-year period. From September 25 to 27, Zhang Gongyi, Director of the MBA Education Center and Associate Dean of the School of Business and Management at Jilin University, attended the AMBA & BGA Latin America Annual Conference on behalf of the school, and Andrew Main Wilson, CEO of the association, offered congratulations. The school became the first institution in Jilin Province to pass AMBA & BGA international accreditation.
The passing of this accreditation affirms the quality of the school’s MBA education and undergraduate education. It is also an important manifestation of the school’s integration from physical integration and chemical integration to integration of hearts and minds, and reflects the achievements of interdisciplinary development and multiple stakeholders resonating in unison. It marks a landmark breakthrough in the internationalization strategy of the School of Business and Management.
